A Weeping Christian: When Faith and Grief Collide

A blog by Kimberly Crumby

Should I stick with my God-sized dreams?

I find myself asking this question every so often. How much easier would it be to just sit back and watch life happen?

Bearing up under the weight of life is hard; the load can feel even heavier when you add big dreams to the mix. When your dreams do not easily come to fruition, it can make you want to abandon them and run for cover. When it appears that one of your dreams has come true, and it slips through your fingers while you frantically try to hang on, it breaks your heart and makes you want to fiercely protect it from further hurt. And it’s ok to feel that way…

it’s what you do that really matters.

So, I am choosing to keep carrying the weight of God-sized dreams.

Sometimes I wonder if God gave me dreams built for someone else- someone bigger and more capable. But then God’s words come rushing into my soul:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

God knew that the dreams he imprinted on my heart would require pain…tears…questions. But you know what? He also knew that he would always be strong enough to help me bear it while he lovingly creates beauty from ashes.

When you’re tempted to lay down those heavy dreams, remember that God is faithful-

“he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it”.
(I Cor. 10:13, msg)

I would love to hear how you combat the temptation to take the “easy” way when living God-sized dreams seems so hard. Keep dreaming!
